The Sell-U process

Five steps from product to customer.

We are not a carrier. We are the team that structures your logistics so you can scale without operating costs eating your margin.

  1. 01 Step 01 · Analysis

We assess your product and operation

We look at what you sell, how much each unit weighs, which channel you sell on (Amazon, Shopify, Faire, your own store), your estimated monthly volume and your target margin. That defines which shipping method makes sense today and which one fits as you grow.

    • Product, weight and volume
    • Channel and target market
    • Current and projected margin
    DeliverableOperational assessment
  2. 02 Step 02 · Calculation

We calculate your real landed cost

Before a single unit ships, we calculate the total cost of putting your product in a US customer’s hands: production, freight, duties by HS code, customs broker, storage and last mile. You will know whether your price has real margin before you commit to anything.

    • Total landed cost in the US
    • Duties by HS code
    • A clear break-even point
    DeliverableReal margin per unit
  3. 03 Step 03 · Documents

    We define the right documentation

We prepare the commercial invoice, packing list, tariff classification with the correct HS code, certificates of origin and any extra permits US customs requires for your category. Consistent paperwork is the first line of defense against CBP holds.

  4. 04 Step 04 · Shipping

    We coordinate the shipment

We connect you with the right freight method for your volume and urgency, and coordinate with the licensed customs broker who files the ISF and handles clearance at the border. We stay with every crossing until the shipment is released.

    • Freight matched to your volume
    • Licensed customs broker
    • ISF and clearance handled
    DeliverableShipment tracked in transit
  5. 05 Step 05 · Destination

    Support at destination

If your inventory goes to Amazon FBA, we guide you on FNSKU labeling, packaging and booking the fulfillment center appointment. If it goes to a 3PL, we connect you with certified partners. The goal: no unit rejected at the warehouse and none left stuck.

    • FBA: labeling and scheduling
    • 3PL: certified partners
    • No rejections at receiving
    DeliverableInventory ready to sell

FAQ

FAQ about shipping to the US

How much does it cost to ship products to the US from Latin America?

Freight is only the beginning. A courier shipment can run $80 to $300 USD. Air freight for 200 kg, $600 to $1,500 USD. An ocean container, $1,500 to $3,500 USD. On top of that come duties, the customs broker and fulfillment. The number that matters is not the freight: it is the total landed cost per unit.

Which shipping method is right for me?

It depends on your volume, margin and urgency. Courier for tests and small volumes. Air freight for urgent restocks or high-value products. Ocean freight for steady-volume operations. Sell-U reviews your case before recommending any setup.

Do I need a US company to import my products?

It is not mandatory, but it is practically essential to operate smoothly. The Importer of Record (IOR) is the entity legally responsible for the shipment when it enters the US: it files with customs, pays the duties and guarantees compliance. Having a US LLC with an EIN makes this process far simpler.

What happens if my shipment is held at customs?

The shipment sits in a port warehouse, with daily storage fees on you, until the issue is resolved. Minor problems are cleared in 1 to 5 days if the customs broker moves fast. More complex cases can take weeks. The best strategy is always prevention: the right documentation from the start.

How can I lower my shipping costs?

The main levers are: choosing the right method for your volume, consolidating shipments instead of sending small batches often, classifying the HS code correctly and building a steady relationship with a customs broker who knows your product. Over the medium term, US fulfillment with periodic ocean-freight restocking is the most efficient model.
